Mississippi State Community Action Team (MSCAT)

Process

MSCAT coordinates specific programs to encourage assistance to communities. These include:
  1. An internal "Excellence in Engagement" grants program providing incentive for faculty and student engagement with communities to address local projects;
  2. A "First Impressions" program providing a vehicle for community-wide participation in identifying issues of concern; and
  3. Issues response teams.

Although each of these components can be viewed as self-contained, they are interdependent in accomplishing the overall MSCAT mission. While the Excellence in Engagement program is an internal incentive for engagement, the latter two programs are specifically designed to work hand-in-hand with communities.
