McMillan Park in Carthage
MSCAT received a request from the mayor in Carthage to look at a city park, McMillian Park, and make some suggestions. Some of the issues the mayor wanted addressed were the need for more baseball fields, parking, and traffic flow in and out of the park. Basically, the problem was one of layout. There were two questions we tried to answer. First, how could the city improve the park without having to rearrange all the existing ball fields and facilities? And, second, if the city was prepared to totally redesign the park layout, what would be the optimum design layout given the existing location?
MSCAT enlisted the support of MSU community planner, Jeremy Murdock, to work on the project. Jeremy visited the site, gathered information, listened to the client's needs, and completed a high-level layout concept for Carthage to use in more detailed planning an implementation efforts.
